Psychotherapy online, in nature and in person working both in English and Spanish

Welcome

My name is Sara and as a fully-qualified and insured Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I am accredited by GPTI and a Registered Member (MBACP) of BACP and abide by their code of ethics. I work both online and in person from Mysa Therapy Rooms, located in Dalkeith. I also offer Eco-therapy, taking the therapy session outdoors to natural spaces, always creating a confidential and safe space for you to be in so you can explore, discover and express yourself freely and in confidence, with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy.

I provide both short- and long-term therapy in English and Spanish to adult individuals from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems.

Arriving

Together, in a way that feels right for you and suits your needs and pace, we will find what is stopping you from living a meaningful and fulfilled existence and the ways in which you can come back to your own being. I'm here to help you on your journey of self-discovery and to enable you to examine your life and make new choices within it, empowering you to make your own changes.

Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt is an experiential, relational and existential therapy which focuses on freedom, awareness and self-direction that aims for the reintegration of disowned parts of our personality.

As a holistic approach and therapy, it usually includes work with the body and sometimes with the natural world and spirituality, focussing particularly on what is happening in the here and now.

Working Together

Sometimes we find ourselves stuck in situations, feelings or ways of thinking that bring suffering to our lives. We may have concerns about who we are in the world, where we fit and how we are received; trouble with a relationship; anxiety or depression. Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing so you can move forwards managing or resolving them.

The Therapeutic Relationship

I believe in a therapeutic relationship based on dialogue, and the creation of a safe and respectful space where to bring light and understanding to aspects of your experience of being alive in this world, in a way that leads to fresh perspectives and perhaps a new understanding of yourself, making possible the return to a life with meaning, your own unique meaning which will make you thrive

My background

Some frequently asked questions...

How many sessions will I need?

I offer open-ended therapy, depending on the depth of the issues you are facing you might choose to do short-term work (8-10 weeks) or long-term work. There is no fixed or ideal length of time for this process.

I find it is helpful for us both to agree before we start on undertaking a certain number of sessions and reviewing where we are at once we reach that point.

What happens in the first session?

The first session will be an online session where you will have time and space to have a sense of how it feels to work with me. I might ask you a few questions to discover what brings you to therapy and what you are looking for in a therapist. You are also welcome to ask me questions about my work. The first session is a time of arrival and exploration.

After the first session you can decide whether you would like to continue working online, meet me in person or a mixture of both.

Eco-Therapy

Therapy in natural spaces enables meaningful psychological change and can improve our mental health and feelings of well-being. It can reduce stress, fatigue, anxiety and depression.

Introducing the green spaces of outdoor environment in a therapeutic process can be life-changing.

If you are interested in Eco-therapy, once we are working together, we will plan how to integrate outdoor, online and/or indoor work to best fit your needs.
